Current research themes:
Environmental Inequality: In my dissertation, I’m using a historical case study to understand the formation of water inequality in the US Southwest. I’m particularly interested in the relationship between race and space in creating environmental injustices.
Environmental Risk & Disaster Recovery: This participatory research project, focused on hurricane recovery in Robeson County, seeks to understand how environmental hazards may be rearranged and reconstituted in the aftermath of extreme weather events.
Social Movements & Collective Action: In this project, we use a variety of methods and data sources to examine the response of authoritarian elites to protest activity, as well as the processes that lead to mobilization in high-risk settings.
Environment, Science, & Media: This project examines the role of the media in environmental conflicts, with a focus on how different actors use scientific knowledge and ignorance.
